Why Develop New Biofuel Production Strains?

Scientist checking new biofuel algae strain growth in pilot bioreactor

Despite the huge microalgal biodiversity available screening for industrial bioenergy carbon capture (BECC) strains have been limited in scale and largely confined to screens of pre-existing academic culture collections. To address this fundamental issue, a team of scinetists at HutanBio have conducted the world’s largest marine micro-algae bioprospecting programme to establish the largest and best-characterised tropical marine industrial microalgae strain library.
